Connected sensor for indoor air quality measurement Measurement of 9 essential indoor air parameters Exclusive: uHoo Viral Risk Index (COVID-19)

Good indoor air quality on a daily basis is good for your health, but in many buildings the indoor air quality is degraded and harmful to the occupants.

The uHoo connected sensor is the most powerful sensor on the market to monitor and improve in real time the indoor air quality of your home or workplace.

YOOTEST proposes high quality products for indoor air quality measurement. After comparison with reference material, the scientific committee of YOOTEST has chosen the uHoo sensor for its performance and reliability.

What are the IAQ parameters measured by the uHoo connected sensor?

The uHoo Air sensor is the most complete sensor on the market for indoor air pollution monitoring. It is equipped with electronic sensors to measure the 9 essential IAQ indicator parameters.

Each parameter has 3 information thresholds (green, orange and red) including an alert threshold (red) when the measurements exceed the health reference values with a risk to the health of the occupants.

  • Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (Total VOCs)
  • Fine particles (PM2.5)
  • Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2)
  • Carbon monoxide (CO)
  • Ozone (O3)
  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Atmospheric pressure

For more information about these parameters, you can read our article about the uHoo sensor.

What are the benefits of using a uHoo connected IAQ sensor?

The uHoo Air connected sensor allows you to measure key indoor air quality indicators in real time. It helps you design a healthy indoor environment.

It can be installed very easily in a home, in the living rooms where you spend the most time (bedroom, living room, dining room), a workplace (individual office, collective office, meeting room), a hotel room, a classroom (nursery, kindergarten, elementary school, college, high school, university).

Improving IAQ should be a constant concern. It involves limiting sources of pollution and reducing the level of environmental pollution, for example, by ventilating the polluted room.

Measuring IAQ indicators in real time allows you to track the instantaneous evolution of indoor air pollution to identify the daily practices that contribute to indoor air pollution and act without delay to rapidly improve IAQ.

The uHoo sensor is small in size (165mm high and 85mm in diameter) and easily integrates into any room in the home or workplace.

A simple and ergonomic interface :

  • The interface of the uHoo sensor on your smartphone or tablet allows you to visualize the indoor air quality and to know which parameters exceed the sanitary reference values.
  • Graphs for each parameter, by periods of one hour, one week or one month, allow you to follow the evolution of your IAQ with different time scales.
  • The Sanitary Baseline Exceedance Management System allows you to be alerted in real time to the degradation of your IAQ so you can take action without delay.
  • Multiple users can connect to the uHoo Air sensor.

How does the uHoo sensor help fight asthma and allergies?

Air pollution is the cause of many chronic diseases such as asthma and allergies.

The prevention of respiratory diseases such as asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) requires an improvement of daily IAQ.

The uHoo connected sensor allows to measure indoor air pollution in real time and to act immediately when it exceeds health indicators.

How does the uHoo connected sensor help to fight viruses like COVID-19?

Air quality has an effect on how viruses, including COVID-19, survive and persist in your home or workplace and how they can be airborne in the air you breathe.

Using the uHoo IAQ Sensor helps you create an environment that is not conducive to airborne viruses such as COVID-19 in your home or workplace.

The uHoo Air sensor is the only indoor air quality meter today that proposes a "viral index". This exclusivity of the uHoo sensor allows to evaluate the risks of virus transmission through the ambient air.

The uHoo "viral index" is determined based on the values of five IAQ parameters: temperature, humidity, fine particle concentration PM2.5, carbon dioxide CO2 and nitrogen dioxide NO2.

Thanks to its unique algorithm, your uHoo Air connected sensor determines in real time whether your indoor environment is conducive or not to the spread of viruses and whether it presents a high risk of airborne transmission.

Can I customize my uHoo sensor?

The uHoo Air sensor is fully customizable, it is possible to create its own personalized interface with the parameters selected in priority.

The default setting of the alert thresholds uses the health reference values proposed by the US EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) and the WHO (World Health Organization).

It is possible to use other health reference thresholds.

The uHoo software allows you to return to the initial settings without difficulty.

How many uHoo connected IAQ sensor to do I need?

Each uHoo Air sensor can be used to monitor the indoor air quality in a room with a surface area of less than 650 square feet (60 m2).

It is possible to move the uHoo sensor from one room to another. However, it will be necessary to wait for the sensor to stabilize before having reliable and accurate IAQ measurements.

What are the technical specifications of the uHoo connected IAQ sensor?

The uHoo sensor has a one year warranty.

The main features of the uHoo sensor are :

  • ABS material (high impact resistant plastic)
  • Data security by 128-bit AES encryption via SSL
  • ARM processor
  • Dimensions 165 x 85 mm / 6.5 x 3.4 in.
  • Weight 210 grams
  • Compatible with connected devices using the following systems: WEMO - IFTTT - NEST - ECOBEE - HUE - NETATMO - SmartThings - iRobot

How to use your uHoo connected IAQ sensor?

The uHoo sensor is very simple to use:

  1. Connect your uHoo to an electrical outlet (220V) using the cable and the plug provided.
  2. Download the application on your smartphone or tablet. The application is available for free for iOS and Android.
  3. Follow the instructions to sync the mobile application and connect your uHoo to the wifi network.
  4. Use the application to track your indoor air quality.

Your uHoo starts by calibrating its sensors. This calibration is necessary to provide accurate and reliable measurements. It can take up to 24 hours for some parameters.

To operate the sensor requires :

  • A Wifi network (type 802.11 @ 2.4Ghz b/g/n) with active internet connection
  • Installing a free mobile application available on iOS or Android
  • An iOS 9.0 or Android 4.2 and higher mobile device
  • A power outlet (220V)
  • A micro USB power adapter (included)
  • An external 5V DC power adapter (included)
